To the manager and staff of RCS, the members of the 287th Trans Co want to thank you for the service you provided at our 12 Dec dinner. The waitresses were courteous, patient and friendly! The food was excellent!! There were at least 50 guests and we ordered off the menu and we had our food in a reasonable amount of time (hot). We also appreciated that you closed the restaurant for us. We hope to make this a yearly event at your establishment. Again, we want to say thank you!

We had just finished maintenance at 3 sites in small towns in West AL near MS line. All we wanted was a steak dinner near our hotel in Demopolis. Well, the restaurants recommended by a few of our customers were closed on Mondays!! We sat in a parking lot searching keyword "steak" and about 13th down the list appeared "River City Soul". I am so glad I found this place at the last minute! This place will not disappoint you. Great selection of food and drinks. Nice atmosphere with courteous and attentive staff. I order the Ribeye med.rare and it was cooked perfectly. I found out later the owner Tommy had cooked our steaks. Do not pass up the chance to try RCS!!

This gem of a restaurant was extraordinarily delicious. Being from Texas, I have to say the rib steak I had tonight was more delicious than Anywhere and I have tried many places around the country and surpassed my favorite steakhouses in Texas! My husband was equally pleased with his grilled pork chops. The owner actually prepared our food and the flavors he used were amazing! This is a five star restaurant. The owner was gracious and did many extra things to make this a fine restaurant. I thought of casual home-syle food when I saw soul food. I was wrong. This is a fine restaurant with exceptional food. The sides were also great. The hot rolls were scratch made and so fresh, warm and tasty! We talked to the owner and they have a buffet for lunch which is quite reasonable. I feel he is priced reasonably for what he serves. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly and he even has relaxing jazz which gives it ambience. It is my new favorite go-to place in Demopolis. Come try it. You won't be sorry. Customer service and satisfaction is key to this fine establishment. I see they also cater. I think Tommie's restaurant can surpass many 5 star restaurants. Since I haven't eaten at all of them, I can't say all. But I can say it's the best I've eaten. His heart is in this business. So give it a try.

Nice place with good quality food and reasonable prices. Owner was out front greeting g people before getting back into the kitchen to cook. Unpretentious food, quick, and a varied menu. We ate from the steam table.

We weren’t sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Due to the holiday, my family decided to patronize a local establishment and we picked a great location. River City Soul is close to the outskirts of town but is located in an easily accessible location. There is plenty of parking. My only suggestion would be to have a larger sign that will bring more visibility from the roadway. Upon entering, I felt like I was under dressed as the establishment is very nicely decorated with soft jazz playing in the background but the staff was accommodating and did not mention any type of dress code. I was with a party of 11 and we were seated very quickly. The service was great given our party size. I can’t even begin to discuss the food. There were so many choices. The wing special was the highlight for the majority of my family. We also ordered the grilled shrimp dinner and the rib plate dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly. Very well seasoned and plated well. We could not have asked for a better holiday meal. I will definitely visit often when I’m in town visiting family. I highly recommend. Great place for families or even for an intimate date with your significant other. You will not be disappointed.

If you are traveling through or you are lucky enough to live nearby, this is your destination for fine soul food dining. Do not miss this restaurant. Hands down the best shrimp and grits. Our party also enjoyed the chopped steak with gravy and extra grilled onions as well as the hamburger. We had the pleasure of meeting the Chef and I look forward to my next trip through Demopolis, Mississippi.

My husband and I ate at River City Soul tonight and it was amazing! The staff was so friendly and attentive. We had their bruschetta which was lovely and so tasty. I ordered the shrimp and grits and he ordered the salmon fresca. Both were wonderful and beautifully plated as well. If we lived closer this would definitely be on our dinner out rotation.

Old review that didn't get posted, maybe 6-8 months ago. Again, I must say that this place never disappoints! The steak was cooked med/well, it was so tender and juicy, I used the plastic knife on my steak without having to use any pressure. Lawd Hammercy😋 The hamburger steak was seasoned to perfection, and the gravy was just right. The salmon was reported to be delectable (I don't eat it), and the hamburger was even cooked to perfection! I didn't mention the sides. Just look for yourself!! He webt above and beyond when I called back to inquire about changing my side item. Tommie and this crew are aimed to please, and well pleased is my overall experience. Thank you, River City Soul, for another great dinner decision. Did I mention that this was a carry -out? It makes the review even better 😉

A group of us went to AL to see Morgan Wallen, we ended up in Demopolis and it was late, was our first night arriving from Arkansas. We debated about going into a restaurant so late, we’ve worked in food service so we know it’s a blessing and a curse at the same time. To say the family that runs this establishment went above and beyond is an understatement! We felt welcomed, not rushed, and the food. Ya’ll the FOOD! Was an experience! It was hot, fresh, the bruschetta was some of the best I’ve had to date, the chicken tender plate for the kids was out standing, I ordered the Salmon Fresca and I will dream of this dish and how I can recreate it at home. Everyone’s food was on point. The staff was amazingly friendly and kind. We left full and ready for a restful night sleep because we had the food-itis (when the food is so good it puts you in a coma). Thank you for the food and company! Next time we are in town or somewhere near we will be back!
